Robin was the first player to captain the Frensham 1st, 2nd and 3rd XIs and was particularly unselfish in the role. In one particular match against arch rivals Robin was on 96 not out. He had never scored a century but regardless he declared as he wanted enough time to bowl Rowledge out which they did and Frensham won. A man who put the team before the individual.
Robin was a huge supporter of youth cricket too. With Donald Limon he organised the Tour of Kent for the best u15 players in the area for maybe 20 years. It was a great trip which bonded together players from the local community and is one of the reasons the i’Anson is in rude health still today. Those bonds run deep.
Robin has also always kindly sponsored an annual youth award where the recipient, who must be from a state school, would receive some coaching sessions to improve their game. Robin was truly before his time in thinking about equity in the game.
This was not a time for silence and Robin was honoured by a minutes applause by the Frensham, Blackheath and Kingley who paid Robin back with two of the most spectacular games seen at Frensham in a while with Frensham winning both games by a sum total of 7 runs.
On this particular day Robin was our 12th Man. Thank you Robin.
