To paraphrase the great Sir William: the winter of our discontent is finally over, made glorious by the summer of cricket ahead—with the long months of waiting now buried in the deep bosom of Hollowdene.

Boyley and I feel extremely fortunate to be taking over as Club Captains with the club in such a healthy state. This is a testament to every player across our four teams, as well as the tireless work of the committee. We owe a particular debt of gratitude to Alex Warren, who laid the foundations for many of our new initiatives, and to Nick Green, whose meticulous attention to detail has put us in a position to truly thrive.

Saturday Cricket

Nathan Phillimore continues to lead the 1st XI, looking to build on a superb personal year, including one of the finest centuries Scribe has witnessed in many a season. With Jack Richards returning and some key new recruits strengthening the ranks, the 1st XI is well-placed to push on.

Hally has a phalanx of young chargers who, combined with a few club stalwarts, should have the 2nd XI challenging at the top of Division Three.

Further down the order, we have two new captains leading the 3rd and 4th XIs: Tom Nicholls and Leon Rhodes.

Tommy is the ultimate clubman, always putting Frensham above personal goals. Whether he’s stepping in for an injured Hally, building the club website, or organising socials, you’d never guess he actually started over at Rowledge! We’re confident he'll lead from the front as the 3rds look to cement their status as the preeminent third team in I’Anson cricket.

Leon takes the reins of the 4th XI. Despite only playing for three years, he has already assembled a strong, motivated group ready for the summer.

Mid-Week & Cup Competitions

The mid-week leadership group goes from strength to strength:

Ryan Young leads the Stevens Cup side, a format tailor-made for his hard-hitting style.

James Morris leads his ‘band of merry men’ in the Pope Cup, aiming to go one step further than our 2024 final appearance.

Joe Barter leads the Slam team into a league full of teams that undoubtedly have Sam Thomas and Nick Cobbold licking their lips!

Club Community & VPs

On a somber note, the winter saw the loss of two great Frensham men: Chris Standeven and Robin Dibden. In their memory, we look to the future of our club traditions with renewed appreciation. ?

Our VP family has now expanded to over 50 members, and we look forward to hosting four lunches throughout the summer. ??
