The match was held in the faraway village of Stedham, in a very nice setting. Scribe hadn’t quite anticipated how far away this place was when he set his alarm at 4.30am after a night out at The Oval and The Swan.

This minor indiscretion of poor timekeeping left Scribe (opening batter) and Mark Shine (opening bowler), coming in 4 overs late, which left stand-in skipper Chutes Mad to the Bone.

Having won the toss, Chutes was left with an interesting dilemma, in which he elected to field first. After a solid 50-run opening partnership, it looked to be a long afternoon ahead, but once the wickets started to fall, they didn’t stop. The Liphook & Ripsley batsmen found it challenging to combat the tight line and length deliveries and were eventually bowled out for a modest total of 104 runs.

Frensham's bowling unit showcased exceptional teamwork and accuracy throughout the innings. Toby Demierre and Thomas Evans started proceedings with tight spells, despite not claiming any wickets. Their economical bowling laid the foundation for the upcoming bowlers to make an impact.

Mark Shine and Archie Warren then came into the attack with each claiming wickets. Warren ended his 6-over spell with figures of 2/26 adding to an impressive display last Sunday.

Patch Falkiner also made a significant contribution and was the pick of the bowlers, scalping three crucial wickets, while Ali Goldsworth was very impressive on debut and added two wickets to his name, ending on figures of 2/3 off 4 overs.
Mark Shine then came back on to take the last wicket, taking a genuine edge with Max Falkiner holding onto it with great composure, thankfully we didn’t have a repeat of last week’s no-ball catch as we headed off for an early tea, Shine finished with figures of 2/16.

Chasing a modest target of 105 runs for victory, Frensham's batsmen displayed great composure and confidence. John Wallace led the charge with an unbeaten knock of 36 runs, showcasing his ability to anchor the innings. He was well supported by the consistent Scribe, who contributed a solid 35 runs to the team's total.

Tom Evans added the finishing touches to the innings with an aggressive unbeaten 16 runs, ensuring there were no hiccups in the chase. Frensham's batsmen exhibited sound technique and controlled aggression, never allowing the pressure to get the better of them.

In the end, Frensham 4th XI reached the target comfortably, losing only one wicket in the process. Their comprehensive victory was a testament to their all-round performance, both with the ball and the bat. Sadly, this dominance meant we didn’t get to see the entertaining Mo Hashir who was due in at 4.

An excellent afternoon was had by all, and we were able to get back to the club early to watch the 1s complete a clean sweep of victories, before an excellent dodgeball social organised by our former skipper. What a day. This club.
